If you haven’t seen our webinar “The three music career-boosting secrets”, I want to share a little secret with you, which we shared during this webinar. During our webinar, I asked the audience different questions about the music scene and tried to gather information about my audience to provide them with the best value possible. And there is one question which always gets the same reply. Let me ask you this:
Do you think that you are a better musician than at least one hot rapper in the Billboard 100 at this moment? Is there at least one rapper who is wack in your opinion?
The answer is yes! It’s always yes!
But how does it happen that some become to be a rapper and others won’t succeed?
It all comes down to attention! Attention is the number one key to success in the music scene. Today we get slapped in the face all day with ads, content and all the new cool stuff. Most of our apps show advertisements, you can’t watch a YouTube video without seeing ads, you can’t listen to the radio without ads etc. So, we are trained to filter into two categories; in a split second, we decide if something is important to us or unimportant. That means if you want to grab attention one attempt at catching the attention of potential fans won’t make it. You have to keep pushing and pushing until you can’t get denied.
Have you ever experienced the following: You heard a song for the first time and trashed it into the unimportant category. And for some reason, the same song or the same wack rapper kept showing up and you continuously trashed him in the unimportant category only to one day shockingly determine that you’re rapping his lyrics on autopilot while his song is playing?
Believe me, it happens to all of us, and sooner or later, even if you aren’t a huge fan of this rapper, you accept him and his music. Gucci Mane was once interviewed by Sway in the morning and got questioned by an upcoming artist on the show about how he felt regarding talented musicians that don’t get the exposure they deserve. Gucci Mane’s response was the following: “Anybody who can get the public to support them are the ones I salute! The ones who don’t have the exposure; they need to tighten up. It’s a bloodsport, and if you don’t make it on my radar then it’s your fault. That’s your job!” Take this to heart if you really want to become a rapper!
Without throwing in any names of wack rappers, you know it’s true and you need to appreciate the fact that you can actually influence the number one key to become successful in this rap game. See, there are many things that you cannot change about your situation, but one thing is for sure – you can determine how much effort you put in. In order to become a rapper you have to put in a lot of work and what’s nice about our time you have endless opportunities to promote and be omnipresent these days thanks to the internet and social media.
Make it your obligation to be omnipresent and put in the effort your competition lacks.
