Success in the music business varies from musician to musician. Success in the music business might mean to you, that you are able to live off your music, be able to pay all the bills and go on holiday twice a year. To others success in the music business might mean to tour the world, chart several #1 songs or albums on the billboard 200 and make tons of money. Whatever your understanding of success in the music business is, you’ll need to have confidence in yourself to achieve it!
Ok, so what does confidence mean?
Confidence is knowing your strengths, the areas in your life where you provide more value than your counterparts. Don’t mix it up with arrogance, because arrogance means thinking that you are better then the rest in areas that you aren’t. Arrogance actually lives of low self-esteem. People are arrogant to cover up their own flaws.
True confidence comes out of knowing what you’re good at. This can be natural talent but also subjects that you study and learn so much about, that you’ll become an expert.
So, if you are doing music and you know that your music is the S@#T you are confident about that.
But what about the other aspects in the music game?
Are you confident how your music video gets shot?
Are you confident with booking shows for yourself?
Are you confident talking to industry influencers?
Are you confident talking to club owners?
These are all things and much more you need to be confident in if you want to become the next music star. If not yourself, at least have somebody in your team who can cover your weaknesses. It’s not a shame to not knowing everything but make sure it’s covered.
If you don’t know about promo or how to market your music effectively that’s no problem find somebody who got those skills and is willing to help you. Or get a product that will guide you through these processes like our Ultimate Artist Shortcuts Course.
But don’t do what most people are doing. Most people try it by themselves, and therefore don’t get the results they expected and soon stop the activities they were doing.
You have two possibilities find somebody who will take care of the things which are your weaknesses in form of a person or learn those skills yourself. But whatever you do, just because you can’t do it yourself don’t let these topics slide. Actively look out for help because this will really impact your career.
So, whenever you don’t feel as confident and you know that this next task is not one of your strengths. Find a way that it’s properly taken care of that task don’t just push it to the side and deal “later” with it…
Start with it right now! Make a list of 5 topics that are holding you back right now. Is it building a fanbase, how to market your mixtapes, how to get views on Youtube or how to get bookings. Whatever it is, get a proper overview about the skills you need to reach the next level and then plan how to acquire them quick or who could you win for your team who already have those skills.
