Building a solid fan base is the most essential step in getting your name and your music out. But how do you turn fans into brand ambassadors that will help promote your music without paying them?

Before I tell you how to do that read this little story about a company called Airbnb. Airbnb used to struggle and bootstrapped to keep their business alive. They were so often broke but never let their dream fade away. They said one thing was crucial in their success story. When they started out they visited every customer (homeowners) and made sure everything was perfect and as comfortable as possible to work with them. They did that for a while they stated that they treated their first 100 customers like royalty.

The customers were so amazed that they became Airbnb’s brand ambassadors telling all their friends about it and spread the word to the world. Think about it Airbnb made $2.6 billion in revenue in 2017 alone.

So what do we learn from this story?

We have to care about our fans! If they leave comments on your social media, make sure to like and respond to it. If they promote your music and tag you on the post, make sure you let them know that you appreciate it! Establish a relationship with your fans which is more than just music, establish a bond between you and your fans. Don’t be to khaki to respond to fans! This is one of the major mistakes I see upcoming musicians do. Acting like they are all that and don’t have the time to communicate with their fans….

Don’t make that mistake, if you are reachable to your audience and they realize that you will give them the fuel that leads from regular fan to brand ambassador. You want them to talk about you, to promote you, to recommend your music to everybody!

The critical number of people you need to achieve is 100. You need to turn 100 fans into brand ambassadors and you won. These 100 ambassadors are of unimaginable value to your career! Don’t let it slide make sure you interact with your fans and acknowledge them.
